And the winner is . . .

So after much deliberation, we've decided on Sofia Marie Burt. Why? Well, first, I just have to have a name (I know . . . it's my obsessive-compulsive side coming out). But honestly, it has a lot of significance because Nate lived in Sofia, Bulgaria, for two years while he served his mission and it is the name of Nate's great-grandmother. Besides, as I kept thinking about it, Sofia is the name I kept coming back to . . . Yes, I ultimately decided because Nate didn't want to put any pressure on me. So this is my story, and I'm sticking to it!! :D

Ryan Helps Out

Lately, Ryan has been trying to help out around the house. He's been doing laundry . . .

. . . watering the lawn . . .

. . . playing with his cousin . . .

. . . shelving books on the bookshelves that Nate built (and I unpacked all the books on) . . .

. . . and he'd even like to help with driving!

Race for the Cure

So I thought I'd share some of the things that I've been doing when I wasn't blogging. Every year, the Saturday before Mother's Day, they hold the Race for the Cure in Salt Lake. It raises money for breast cancer research. Mom Burt is a four-year breast cancer survivor, so we have made it a family tradition to participate every year. This year there were more than 16,000 people officially running in the race and a large number of others also (including kids, etc.). This was our race team: Nate, Ryan, my nephews Austin and Adam, and me. We all walked the 5K. (Most of the family ran the 5K.)

There were a LOT of people there:

We finished the race in 55 minutes. We would have finished it sooner, but Austin and Adam started getting really tired (or bored), so we had to help drag them along; Nate even gave them piggyback rides for part of the race. At the end, Mom walked in the March of the Survivors:

And Ryan cheered her on!

It's a . . .

We had the ultrasound today, and just so you all know, it's a girl! She looks very healthy and she is developing well. We're very excited, especially that she is looking so healthy, but we are still working on a name (it's between Sofia Marie and Katherine Anne).

Anyway, pregnancy has made me really tired, so I haven't been online much recently, but my work is picking up again, which ensures I'll be on the computer plenty. So I should be blogging more often again. :D

Be Thankful

For my first gratitude blog, I wanted to share something Mom Burt gave to me when I was writing a talk on gratitude. I really like this quote and try to always keep it in mind because it is very true and can help foster a greater attitude of gratitude.

Be thankful that you don't already have everything you desire; if you did, what would you have to look forward to?

Be thankful when you don't know something; it gives you an opportunity to learn.

Be thankful for difficult times; during those times you grow.

Be thankful for your limitations; they give you an opportunity for improvement.

Be thankful for each new challenge; it will build your strength and character.

Be thankful for your mistakes; they will teach you valuable lessons.

Be thankful when you're tired and weary; it means you've made a difference.

It's easy to be thankful for the good things. A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who are also thankful for the setbacks. Gratitude can turn a negative into a positive. Find a way to be thankful for your troubles; they can become your blessings. --Author Unknown
